Club Statement: Rule Breach
While recognising that football is a sport full of passion, we also accept that as officials, supporters and players we have a responsibility in representing the club at all times.
On Saturday the club was badly let down by three individuals. Last minute goals are special but what followed by the aforementioned supporters following David Goodwillie’s late equaliser was unacceptable when they entered the field of play.
Individuals should not encroach the field of play and the club condemns this behaviour unequivocally. Our thanks go to our players in managing the situation and ensuring that it didn’t escalate further.
Following Saturday’s pitch incursion the club has been notified by the SPFL and will be required to submit a report before sanctions are implemented.
Action is being taken by the club. Individual meetings will be held with the supporters and appropriate sanctions implemented immediately to ensure there is no repeat, and to demonstrate that this issue is not taken lightly.
We would like to thank the majority of our support for acting responsibly on the day and trust that this is an isolated incident.
