PREVIEW: East Kilbride v Clyde

Clyde continue their Premier Sports League Cup campaign with an away trip to East Kilbride this evening in what will be the first competitive match between the sides.

East Kilbride currently sit one point above Clyde in second place in the group after being awarded a 3-0 win against Kilmarnock and a 0-0 draw away to Morton, but losing the penalty shootout for the bonus point.

Danny Lennon will have the same squad available that faced Kilmarnock with Kevin Nicoll remaining out due to injury, whilst Jonathan Page is doubtful for the match.

The Clyde manager spoke to the official website ahead of the game:-

“It’s going to be a good challenge for us. As things have worked out this group is now wide open so there’s a lot to play for. I think it’s a really good chance for any club to go through but what we know ourselves is we have to get out the traps early.

“We have done our homework on East Kilbride and we know the quality that their individuals have, and we are still building and preparing our own squad at the moment which takes a bit of time. There’s certainly aspects from the last two games that we’re pleased with, but there’s also aspects of the games we’re dying to get on the training ground and work on.

“The Clyde support always travel well and they’re that 12th man for us. It’s a tight pitch, they will be close to us and when we have games like that we certainly get a good reaction and that results in positive performances.”
