Clyde 3-0 Airdrieonians
The Bully Wee retained the NL Broadwood Cup this afternoon, with a fine 3-0 victory over Airdrieonians.
Danny Lennon shuffled his pack, with only Conrad Balatoni, Morgaro Gomis and Aaron Splaine being retained from yesterday’s starting XI.
Clyde broke the deadlock in the 19th minute after Ally Love picked up a loose ball in the box and slid it under the body of Airdrie ‘keeper Max Currie from a tight angle.
The lead was doubled on the stroke of half-time when Robert Jones found himself a few yards from goal and cheekily backheeled the ball over the line.
Both teams took the opportunity to use their benches which disrupted the flow of the second half, but Clyde added a third a minute from time when Owen Andrew sent David Goodwillie through on goal, and he chipped the ball over sub ‘keeper Jay Cantley and into the back of the net.
