Healthy Heroes Proves Huge Hit
Clyde FC Community Foundation have been busy over the past two months delivering a new programme to local primary schools.
Tom Elliott, Community Development Manager said:-
“Our Healthy Heroes project has proved very popular with the local schools and we have engaged with over 2500 boys and girls over the last couple of months. Considering the year we have all had it has been a great finish to the school year. I would like to thank Lee McParland and her active schools team, and the Clyde FC Community coaches for all their hard work in making this a huge success.”
Lee McParland, Active Schools coordinator added:-
“The Healthy Heroes programme has kicked off to an amazing start within primary schools in the Cumbernauld, Chryston and Stepps areas. Children are enjoying taster football sessions from inspirational coaches whilst learning about keeping their mind and bodies healthy. We have had very positive feedback from children and teachers telling us how much children have enjoyed the sessions and in many cases has sparked an interest in taking up football as a new sport. The programme has already included over 2,500 children across 8 schools. It has been wonderful to see so many Healthy Heroes having fun and learning through the medium of football.
“This project is another testament to the strength of partnership work between Active Schools and Clyde Community Foundation. Tom Elliott and the team of coaches have been exceptional to work with and provide such positive role models for young people.”
