John Greenhorn

Everyone associated with the club was extremely saddened to learn of the death of supporter John Greenhorn last week, following a short illness.

Brought up in the Clyde tradition by his father Jack, John started regularly following The Bully Wee after their move to Cumbernauld in the 90s.

His most memorable experience as a Clyde supporter was one shared by many – the terrific victory over Celtic in the Scottish Cup in 2006. John’s wife, Lynda fondly recalls: “I’ll never forget his excitement when Clyde played Celtic and beat them. He was on cloud nine for days!”

John took great pride in being a club owner and an Executive Club season ticket holder, as Lynda continued: “He was so chuffed to be an Executive member and just wished his dad could have seen him go to the football in a suit! He loved the camaraderie of the club and meeting all of his friends for a wee drink or two before the match.”

John was a much-loved face in the Arria Lounge on a matchday and will be sorely missed.

His funeral will take place on Thursday 26th November at Falkirk Crematorium, with a limited gathering due to the current Covid-19 guidelines. Anyone wishing to pay their respects can do so at Broadwood at 12.15pm, when a drive past the stadium has been arranged.

John’s family would like to thank all for their support. The condolences of all at the club go to Lynda, daughter Susan and the rest of his family and friends at this sad and difficult time.
