Goalkeeping Update

The club can confirm two developments in the goalkeeping department of the first team squad, as preparations continue ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

Michael McGee has joined SJFA West Region League Two side Forth Wanderers on loan until the end of the season. Michael joined Clyde in 2018 and will now gain further competitive match experience with the Wanderers.

Joining Clyde on a permanent deal is 19-year-old stopper David Wilson. Wilson is formerly of St. Mirren and featured regularly in the SJFA West Region Premiership last season, while on loan at Glenafton Athletic.

Goalkeeping coach, Chris Fahey said:-

“I have worked with Michael now for two years and I have high hopes for him. Technically, he is excellent, but he now has to get games under his belt to learn about the areas of goalkeeping that you can’t coach in training. Michael will continue to train with us and I will keep a close eye on him.

“I’m delighted to get David on board and I’m really looking forward to working with him. I have monitored his progress over the last 12 months and the fact that he was loaned out to Glenafton last season and gained experience at that level was a big part in us signing him.

“He’s a fantastic young keeper who will have a big future in the game. I’m hoping that he will learn a lot from working with myself, the gaffer and Allan. It will also be a fantastic experience for him to work with David Mitchell, who I class as one of the best ‘keepers in Scotland.

“Overall, the goalkeeping department at Clyde is at its strongest in my time at the club.”
