Return to Training Update
Following the latest guidance issued by the Scottish Government and the SFA/SPFL Joint Response Group (JRG), the club is pleased to report that a return to training schedule for Clyde has now been finalised.
Following an initial meeting of the squad and staff this week, the players will commence training as a group on Tuesday night, as preparations for the 2020-21 season move to the next phase.
Speaking to the official website, Clyde director and the club’s lead Covid-19 coordinator, David MacPherson, gave some more information:-
“We had to slightly delay our return to group training due to the guidelines that were in place previously, but have now been updated this week, in what we all know is a constantly changing landscape.
“The staff and players will attend a meeting on Thursday night, that will clearly outline all of the necessary safety protocols to everyone. Training kit will also be distributed and all other preparation items covered, to allow for an immediate start on Tuesday night, which will be the first group session at Broadwood.
“For all training sessions, we have put in place a very robust occupational plan, in close conjunction with NLL, to keep the players as safely distanced as possible during their time at Broadwood. Everything we have planned is in line with JRG guidelines and we are fortunate that Broadwood, as a venue, is very advanced in terms of its ability to be made bio secure.
“Danny and the staff have been incredibly supportive of the whole process and all of the players have been contacted in advance of tomorrow, to ensure they know what will be required of them. Each will be required to submit a personal health check and temperature checks will be carried out upon each arrival at the stadium.
“Although the guidelines do not now require full Covid-19 testing to be carried out for training purposes, the club has invested in the necessary testing kits to ensure availability if needed in future.
“This is a hugely positive step in our ultimate aim of returning to competitive action, ideally with crowds present, but we should be mindful that the situation could change very quickly, either nationally or regionally – the latter of which could impact on certain clubs only. We will continue to be alert to any changes and react as required.”
