Club Update – 19th March

The club can provide the following update on its current position during the ongoing football suspension and following the latest Joint Response Group Update, issued yesterday.

We continue to fully respect the need for the suspension at this stage in the national response to the COVID-19 situation and trust that the authorities will communicate on the implications for the 2019-20 season when they are able to do so, in collaboration with wider government guidelines to the public.

While health and safety clearly remains everyone’s first priority, we also appreciate that supporters are concerned about the impact the suspension is having on the club. We can reiterate the message from 14th March, that all possible steps are being put in place to ensure that the club can navigate this very challenging time.

In parallel with the Joint Response Group formed by the SFA and SPFL, the club has set up its own working group, to review and manage this ever-changing situation on a daily basis. Meetings will continue to be held as required, with additional expertise being invited to the group in relevant areas.

We are also extremely grateful to have received offers of financial support from individual fans. Different ideas have been suggested and the best way to facilitate contributions is currently being discussed, with a further update to follow very soon.

The Clyde Lottery and Bully Wee Fund will continue throughout the period and both of these initiatives are an excellent way to support the club while matches are suspended.

The Clyde Lottery will continue as normal, with draws taking place every Wednesday and the result published on our website, until the planned summer break commences on May 13th. All agents have been contacted and individual arrangements will be made with each as necessary. Online ticket sales continue to be available, allowing you to enter from home.

The Bully Wee Fund has six prize draws remaining from its yearly total of 26. Four of these will be held on the dates that were originally planned for our remaining home fixtures; Saturday 21st March, Saturday 4th April, Saturday 18th April and Saturday 2nd May. While the suspension continues, draws will be recorded on video and published on our usual digital channels for all to see. The last two draws will take place in May/June, with dates to be confirmed later.

With regard to club shop activity, a sale of all replica and leisurewear items held at Broadwood was already planned before the onset of this current pandemic. This was designed to clear/reduce the stock currently being held in the shop at the stadium and reduce the amount of capital tied up in this stock. An announcement on these offers will be made imminently, utilising our online shop facility.

Separately, a sale has been initiated by MJM Sports to clear their own stock of their catalogue of Clyde items. Use code ‘CLYDE25’ at the checkout to receive 25% off all items.

Unfortunately, no date has been set for the annual Awards Night and the viability of holding the event this year will be considered in due course.

In terms of the staff and squad, all are continuing to be monitored closely by our medical team, and personal training plans are being devised for the players. This is particularly important following the announcement yesterday of the indefinite closure of Broadwood Stadium, which impacts on the normal training schedule.

We will continue to provide updates when we can – both via the SFA/SPFL Joint Response Group and from the club. Our Digital Media team will also be working to provide additional content on our social media channels to try to provide some interest, including the continued look back at our 1999-00 Second Division Championship, on its 20th anniversary, with previously unseen footage.

In conclusion, please continue to follow the national advice being given and we wish all supporters well.
