CITY OF GLASGOW CUP: Clyde 3-1 Partick Thistle

The Bully Wee cruised to victory over Partick Thistle in the City of Glasgow Cup at Broadwood this evening.

17-year-old Spanish midfielder Kai McCormack was included in the Clyde squad, after recently signing on amateur terms.

The Bully Wee dominated the game, with Jags ‘keeper Jamie Sneddon tipping a bullet header from Chris McStay onto the bar, and getting down to block Ross Cunningham’s drive.

Clyde took the lead two minutes before half-time, after Martin McNiff headed home a Chris Johnston corner.

Sneddon made another couple of good saves either side of the interval before Ally Love doubled Clyde’s advantage in the 59th minute, after David Goodwillie showed some good footwork and squared the ball to him in the box.

Goodwillie was the provider again six minutes later when his cross into the box was slotted home by Darren Smith.

The Jags netted a consolation in the 83rd minute when sub Ewan Cameron headed home from close range.

CLYDE: McGee, Lyon, Wylde, McNiff (Cuddihy 64′), Howie (Rumsby 55′), Lamont (Grant 55′), Cunningham (Goodwillie 55′), McStay (McCormack 64′), Smith, Johnston, Love.
