CITY OF GLASGOW CUP: Clyde 1-1 Queen’s Park

The Bully Wee and Queen’s Park played out a draw in the City of Glasgow Cup at Broadwood this evening.

The Clyde side was supplemented by community team players Ryan Lindsay, Daniel Morrison and Aaron McNeil.

Queen’s Park took an early lead after Clyde failed to clear properly from a corner, and Kieran Moore poked home from close range.

The Bully Wee then thought they had equalised when Ally Love tapped home the rebound from an Aaron McNeil effort. The assistant referee flagged for offside however, despite Love appearing to be onside from the initial shot.

Clyde did level things up in the 26th minute in sensational style through McNeil. A cross-field ball was played to the winger, and with his first touch he flicked it over the head of his opponent, before volleying it over the ‘keeper and into the back of the net from over 20 yards out.

There was no further scoring in the second half, though The Spiders did come close after rattling the underside of the crossbar late on.

CLYDE: McGee, Lindsay, McNiff, Morrison, Rumsby (Cuddihy 46′), Wallace, McNeil, Lamont, Goodwillie (Smith 46′), Johnston (McStay 46′), Love.
