Barry Confident of Return to Winning Ways

Barry Cuddihy spoke to the press following Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Dumbarton at Broadwood in Ladbrokes League 1.

Cuddihy reflected on the game, which saw Clyde take the lead early on, with the visitors managing to come from behind to take all three points.

“It was a frustrating game,” he said. “In the early stages of the first half we were the better team and then got the goal to go 1-0 up. Once they equalised though it shook us a wee bit and in the second half we didn’t really kick on. They got an early goal and we tried to push for the equaliser but it just wasn’t our day.

“For most of the second half we were pushing to make it 2-2 and ended up going long a lot of the time, which isn’t how we play. We had a few chances but it just never went for us.”

League results haven’t been going The Bully Wee’s way in recent weeks, but the midfielder said that he is confident the squad can bounce back:-

“We’ve done well in the cup games, which broke up the league games, but when it comes back to the league we’re not on the best of runs, especially at home where you want to win every game and make it a fortress. We’ve been in this situation before though and I’m sure we’ll get out of it and back to winning ways.”

Cuddihy recently reached the milestone of 100 appearances for Clyde and he concluded by speaking about the achievement and the aims for the rest of the season:-

“I’m really proud of it. Ever since the gaffer’s come in, everyone’s loved the way we’ve played football, including the fans, and obviously we managed to get promoted last year because of it. We’re in a sticky patch right now in the league, but we’ve had good results before it and there’s no doubt all of the boys can get back to doing what we do best.

“It’s still early doors in the season – who knows what could happen by the end. You can go on a run which shoots you up the table, which obviously we’ll be looking to do.”
