Alex Wants to Top Airdrie Display
Alex Petkov spoke to the press following The Bully Wee’s 3-1 win over Airdrie in Ladbrokes League 1 on Saturday.
The 20-year-old, who picked up the Man of the Match award, reflected on the game and his performance:-
“I think that was my best game for Clyde so far,” he said. “I think we were due a good performance after last week when we weren’t at our best against Montrose and I think the boys delivered a good team performance.”
Petkov opened the scoring on Saturday, which was his first goal for the club and for himself in senior football. He continued:-
“It’s my first senior goal, so I’m buzzing with it. It’s always good to get an early goal and I think we controlled the game well after it. We got the second goal not long after and I think we played really well for the full game. I thought we all dug in and defended great and it’s a very good three points for us.”
Alex is currently on loan from Hearts until early January and he finished by discussing his time at Clyde so far:-
“It’s been great. There have been some ups and downs, but I’ve enjoyed it. The boys have been fantastic and so have the staff – it’s a great club to be at. I think it’s helped me improve on the physical side of my game. Most of the games are quite physical and a fight so I think I’ve learnt a lot and it’s been a great opportunity to impress.
“I’ve got two games left and after that I’m not sure what will happen, I’ve still to discuss it with everyone. I just want to enjoy my football and play every Saturday. The support have been great every game, home or away, and I hope I can top this performance in my remaining matches.”
