David Goodwillie Claim Dismissed

The club has been notified that it has been unsuccessful in its appeal to the Scottish FA against the red card issued to David Goodwillie during the match against Peterhead last weekend.

The Fast Track Tribunal met this morning and upheld the original decision. The reasons for the determination will provided to the club at a later date and will also be published by the SFA.

David will now receive a two-match ban, with immediate effect. The club is also required to meet costs of £250 as a result of the unsuccessful outcome.

Club Secretary, Gordon Thomson commented: “We accept the decision of the tribunal and I would also like to thank the staff at the SFA for their assistance in this matter over the last few days.

“We are disappointed with the outcome. We don’t take the decision to appeal lightly; footage is analysed and detailed statements are prepared before we decide to submit. The overriding reason we chose to appeal in this case was the interpretation of Rule 12 of the Laws of the Game covering an act of Violent Conduct. We did not think the challenge was consistent with that rule, but the referee and the tribunal disagreed.

“We have no choice but to agree to differ, accept their judgement and move on.”
