Goodwillie Named Clyde Captain

David Goodwillie has been named as Clyde’s club captain, ahead of the start of the 2019-20 campaign.

The 30-year-old joined The Bully Wee in early 2017 and has gone on to feature in 90 matches to date, scoring 53 goals.

Clyde manager, Danny Lennon said:-

“I am pleased to announce that David will be our club captain this season. We have a number of players at Clyde who lead by example on the pitch, in the dressing room and at training. They are all so fantastic at encouraging, challenging, nurturing and bringing the best out of others.

“Any one of them would make a fine captain. David is our choice because he is all of these things, but also because his depth of experience in the game is outstanding, having played for quality clubs both north and south of the border. He’s played in the top league in the world, in European competition and for his country; scoring against the World champions. He gives 100% at all times and always puts the team first.

“David has played a huge part in the transformation at the club in the last 18 months and it is fitting that he is the player to captain this team of quality players we have, for this exciting season ahead.”
