Annan Athletic 1-1 Clyde

The Bully Wee extended their unbeaten run to 12 games this afternoon, after picking up a point at Galabank in Ladbrokes League 2.

Danny Lennon made one change to his side, with Martin McNiff replacing Jordan Stewart in the left-back position.

In blustery conditions, the hosts started the match strongly and Blair Currie was forced into early action when Tommy Muir got a sight of goal, but the Clyde ‘keeper did well to make a save with his legs.

As is often the case at Galabank, space was at a premium and chances at both ends were limited, but The Bully Wee managed to take the lead thanks to an excellent individual goal by Kristoffer Syvertsen. The Norwegian picked up a loose ball in Annan’s half, drove forward and created enough space for himself to put a low shot into the bottom corner of the net.

The home side came agonisingly close to equalising after 37 minutes when both Muir and Chris Johnston were denied in quick succession but a combination of Currie and the frame of the goal, with Tom Lang completing the escape with a goal-line clearance.

Just before the half-time break, Johnston tested Currie again from a wide angle and this time it was a more comfortable high save for the stopper.

The Bully Wee made a better start to the second half and Syvertsen had half a chance from close range, but he couldn’t find enough space to get a clean shot away.

At the other end, as Annan mainly threatened with deliveries into the box, Scott Hooper put one of the match’s few shots on goal over the bar.

As the game entered the closing stages, substitute Ross Lyon had a good chance for Clyde after a break of the ball, but his attempted chip shot drifted away from goal after going past home goalkeeper Alex Mitchell.

With only three minutes left, pressure from Annan led to Kyle Bradley picking up the ball just outside the box and his effort on goal took a big deflection and found the opposite side of the net to make a final scoreline of 1-1.
