Gordon N McLaren
The club was saddened to learn of the death of Gordon N McLaren (Snr) yesterday, at the age of 84.
Gordon began following the Bully Wee as a youngster when his dad would ‘lift’ him over the turnstile at Shawfield.
The club’s move to Cumbernauld allowed family man, Gordon Snr to reignite his Clyde passion and trips to games became more a family day out as he attended Broadwood and toured the country with his son, Gordon and his two grandsons, Jamie and Craig. All became well known faces amongst the support.
Gordon was always mindful and thoughtful of club events. He joined the Supporters’ Trust and subsequently became a Club Owner. He thoroughly enjoyed ‘that’ Scottish Cup win in 2006, but equally suffered at the narrow loss of promotion to the top flight a few years earlier.
An unassuming and respectful gent, he will be sadly missed.
The club’s thoughts are with his wife, Margaret, son, Gordon and his partner Wendy, daughter, Morag, son-in-law Stuart and grandchildren Jamie, Craig and Katie at this difficult time.
Details of funeral arrangements will be posted when they are confirmed.
