Under-20s: Clyde 0-3 Stranraer

Clyde’s under-20s suffered another loss in the Development League West on Sunday night against Stranraer, as the visitors ran out comfortable 3-0 winners.

Stranraer started the game well and enjoyed having more of the ball throughout the opening stages, but they struggled to break down the Clyde defence. The young Bully Wee side grew into the game and put a number of threatening crosses into the box, but no attackers managed to get on the end of them. Clyde managed to get in behind the Stranraer defence a few times before the end of the half, but the referee blew his whistle for offside on every occasion meaning that the teams went into the break level at 0-0.

The second half saw Clyde needing a reshuffle, due to players coming off due to injury. Less than a minute after the restart, Stranraer were awarded a penalty after a forward was brought down in the box, and they made no mistake from the spot to make it 1-0.

The Blues’ second goal came after they intercepted a pass from the Clyde defence in the middle of the park, which allowed the winger to put in a cross that was spilled by the trialist ‘keeper, allowing the striker to tap the ball in. Stranraer finished the game in control and, 15 minutes from time, they managed to break through the Clyde defence once more and score a third and final goal.
