McNeil Offer Accepted

The club can confirm that it has accepted an offer from Stirling Albion for the transfer of Ewan McNeil.

Following the conclusion of what was a hugely disappointing season, Ewan indicated to the club and the newly appointed management team his desire for a change. After returning from a summer holiday he confirmed and underlined his request to move on ahead of the start of the 2017-18 campaign.

Ewan, having signed a two-year contract last summer, was not free to switch clubs independently and the Clyde board was clear that it should seek and receive a fair and reasonable fee for his services. A figure that the club feels is acceptable was today agreed with Stirling Albion. Following that agreement, the club has given Stirling permission to speak to Ewan about personal terms, before a transfer can be finalised.

Clyde chairman Norrie Innes said: “Last season was clearly one that everyone involved in would not ever wish to go through again. After such an overwhelmingly negative experience, some people seek a change of environment and to move on and stay together with friends. This, to some, is a natural reaction. Others choose to persevere and work to progress and improve the club’s position.

“We respect Ewan’s wishes and he will leave with our sincere thanks and best wishes. Change happens and on this occasion we are happy with the agreement reached today.”
