Sweeney Wins Under-20 Award

Ronan Sweeney has been named as the club’s under-20 Player of the Year.

The midfielder, pictured on the left receiving the trophy from team captain Craig Coleman, was picked out by his fellow squad members as being the young side’s top performer during the 2016-17 campaign.

Under-20 head coach, Richard Fox said:-

“Ronan fully deserves this accolade as voted for by his peers in the dressing room. His performances in training and matches this season has been of a consistently high level from a technical, tactical, mental and physical point of view.

“Ronan has excellent technical ability, he’s comfortable with the ball on both feet, he’s always looking for the ball no matter how closely he is being marked and defensively he plays his part for the team.

“He is one of those players that, on his day, can produce something that can win you a game out of nothing; a joy to watch.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to wish Jim Chapman the very best of luck. I think it’s a fantastic appointment and one that will hopefully be the catalyst to take the first team back to where they belong at the top end of the league.”
