Season 1972-73 – The Book
Club historian Gordon Sydney, who wrote ‘Unsung Heroes’ a few years ago, is embarking on another book, but he’s not alone and he’s looking for your input.
Gordon has teamed up with Jim Hutchison, Alan Maxwell and Graeme Clark to write a book – as yet untitled – about Clyde’s Second Division Championship win in season 1972-73. He is also looking for any fan who has memories, stories or anecdotes about that season to write them down and pass them on to the team.
“I’m not looking for chapter and verse,” Gordon said. “Just send us anything and we’ll do our utmost to get it into the book; your favourite memory, your worst memory, your funniest memory – in fact if you’ve got anything at all just let us know. Pictures, especially if they’ve never before been seen in public, would be the icing on the cake. Lastly, a note to Tom Kelly and his like – poetry will also be considered!
“Don’t worry about the standard of writing, we don’t either! Seriously, give us anything at all and we’ll do our utmost to include it in the book. I will retain the right to decide what goes in and what doesn’t go in, and to do a small amount of editing, but anything we include will be fully credited to the provider or author.”
Gordon can usually be found at the main door on matchdays, or occasionally in Club 58. He can also be contacted at shawfieldboy@gmail.com or via the Club Office at Broadwood.
