Positive Week for Under-20s
The Bully Wee’s under-20 side have enjoyed a good week, securing a win and a draw in the SPFL Development League West.
Richard Fox’s team firstly took on Airdrie at Ravenscraig on Wednesday night, with the match ending in a 0-0 stalemate.

Speaking to the official website this evening, Richard said:-
“It was a frustrating match. We did everything but score, but defensively we were excellent and that was a big positive to take away. It was just one of those days when the ball wouldn’t go into the net, which happens in football sometimes.”
Earlier today, Ayr United visited Broadwood and the Clyde youngsters secured a superb 3-2 win.
Ronan Sweeney finished off a good move to give Clyde a half-time lead. In the second half, Aaron Millar converted Alex Lynn’s corner to make it 2-0, but Ayr came back strongly and pulled the match back to 2-2. However, to the boys’ credit, with just a couple of minutes to go Jamie McPhee won a free-kick on the right wing and the midfielder was in the right place to score from the subsequent delivery.

“We took the positives from Wednesday into the game today and I’m delighted for the boys to get such a good result,” Richard continued. “We played in exactly the same way – defending well and playing at the right times – but this time we were clinical in front of goal. At 2-2, we had our backs to the wall but we showed real character to come back and get the winning goal.
“Including friendly matches, that’s now just one defeat in six matches, so we’re getting a bit of a run going.”
Richard also mentioned another positive aspect for the team this week – the addition of 18-year-old Scott Tiffoney to the first team squad, who went straight into Barry Ferguson’s starting line-up against Arbroath. He said:-
“The boys see Scott as an example that if you are good enough, you are old enough. If they keep working hard, chances will be available for them to make the step up and that’s a big motivation for them.”
Next up for the team is a trip to Queen of the South, with a date and venue to be confirmed.
