Brora Rangers 0-2 Clyde

The Bully Wee are in the draw for the Third Round of the William Hill Scottish Cup, as goals from Sean Higgins and Matt Flynn secured a win over Brora Rangers in the Highlands.

Barry Ferguson made one change to the team following last week’s win at Edinburgh City, with Flynn coming in for Martin McNiff.

The first half was a keenly fought contest, with The Bully Wee shading it in terms of chances created. Both Peter MacDonald and Scott Linton came close to scoring, but on both occasions home ‘keeper Joe Malin produced a save.

At the other, Steven Ross’ shot from distance just missed the target but the score remained blank at half-time.

In the second half, David Gormley saw his effort cleared off the line but it wasn’t long before the deadlock was broken.

On the hour mark, Scott Linton’s excellent in-swinging corner found Higgins and Clyde’s top scorer did well to hook it into the net from close range.

The home side then enjoyed a decent spell of play, with Scott Lisle and Ally Macdonald both having chances but both shots failed to test John Gibson.

After 78 minutes, a superb second goal made things more comfortable for The Bully Wee. Ewan McNeil’s fine run and cross was met by the head of Flynn and the midfielder found the net to double the lead.

There was no further scoring, meaning that Clyde go into Tuesday evening’s draw for the Third Round of the competition.
