Clyde 0-5 Partick Thistle U20

The Bully Wee exited the IRN-BRU Cup last night, as a young side was eventually picked off by a clinical Partick Thistle under-20 team.

First team squad members Smith, Marsh, Watson, McGinty, Davidson, Kyle Ferguson and ‘keeper McMillan were joined by recent additions to the club’s new under-20 set up, as Barry Ferguson took the opportunity to watch the match from the stand.

The visitors were on top for most of the first half and forced Mark McMillan into a couple of saves, as well as hitting the inside of the post.

However, The Bully Wee had an excellent chance to take the lead when Kyle Barr was given a sight of goal but his shot was cleared off the line.

Early in the second half, Thistle got an opening goal through Kevin Nisbet, as he took a good touch in the box and fired a low shot past Mark McMillan.

Two goals in as many minutes then killed off the match as a content; a deflected shot by James Penrice and a second goal for Nisbet after McMillan could only push away a low cross.

After 76 minutes, The Jags got a fourth as Nisbet completed a hat-trick by volleying home a cross from the right wing.

The last goal of the game soon followed as McMillan blocked a header from Neil McLaughlin, but the rebound fell back to the Thistle player and he stabbed the ball in at the second attempt.
