Barry Praises JP and Squad Spirit

Barry Ferguson spoke to the official website following today’s win at Arbroath, to praise the togetherness of his squad after a particularly difficult week for one player.

Jon Paul McGovern’s father sadly passed away this week but the midfielder made the journey to Gayfield and used all of his ability and experience after coming on as a second half substitute.

Barry said: “It shows the type of character JP is that he was able to play after such a difficult week personally. It really says a lot about him that he wanted to travel with us and participate in the game.

“I thought he came on and dictated the play in the middle of the park and played a big part in the win.”

The Clyde manager also revealed that the squad requested to wear black armbands during the match in support of their team-mate:-

“The players decided it was a mark of respect to wear the armbands and I think that shows the type of guys I have at the club. It was a great gesture by them.”
