Jon-Paul McGovern Signs
The club is pleased to announce the signing of midfielder Jon-Paul McGovern from Stirling Albion.
McGovern, 34, brings a huge amount of experience and ability to The Bully Wee, having played in Scotland, England and Ireland throughout his career to date. His former clubs include Livingston, Sheffield Wednesday, MK Dons, Swindon Town and Carlisle United.
Last season, McGovern captained Ayr United in League 1 before moving to Forthbank earlier in the summer.
Speaking to the official website, Barry Ferguson said:-
“I’m delighted that we’ve been able to bring JP to Clyde. He’s an all-round midfielder; a good passer of the ball, able to dictate play and bring others into the game. He’s a player I was interested in earlier in the year, but we weren’t able to bring him in at that time.
“I heard that he’d been made available on Monday night so I made contact with him and we continued to talk yesterday. There was interest from other clubs but we managed to win the race and finalise the deal last night.
“I’m also at an advanced stage with talks with two more players and I’m hopeful that we’ll be able to announce more news before the weekend.”
The Clyde manager also confirmed that Ross Fisher has agreed to join Beith Juniors on loan.
“The move will be good to give Ross game time at the moment,” he said. “We’re also considering letting another couple of players go out on loan and we’re looking into the best option for that.”
