No Serious Damage for Marko

Barry Ferguson spoke to the official website this evening and gave an update on the squad following Saturday’s 120-minute cup tie against Livingston at Almondvale.

Mark McLaughlin, who was forced to leave the pitch in the second half after colliding with Livi ‘keeper Darren Jamieson, did not suffer any serious damage. Barry said:-

“Thankfully there’s nothing broken with Mark, but it was a sore one on his side. He wasn’t able to train last night, so we’ll need to wait and see how much he can do on Thursday. It may be a late decision on whether or not he can take part on Saturday.”

There were no other issues to report following the weekend, but also no further news on the progress of Scott Durie’s recovery from a double hernia.

“We’ve been let down badly with Scott,” Barry continued. “His operation was cancelled at the last minute and we don’t have a new date for it yet. It’s a bit of a nightmare and in our position there’s not a lot we can do, however we are still looking at any possible route we can take.

“It’s frustrating for me but it’s also a shame for Scott because he is desperate to start his recovery and get involved again.”

Barry finished by confirming that he hadn’t given up hope of making an addition to the squad before the end of the transfer window:-

“Ideally we need another one or two in the squad, but it’s very difficult because we have no money to put towards it. I’m still looking and watching games though and we may be able to work out a loan deal or make use of a favour from another club.

“The young lads promoted from the youth squad will be good players for Clyde in the future but at the moment I am keen for them to go out on loan and get some experience, which will really help them at this stage. We need to find the right place for them but that will also leave us very tight on numbers, so I’m trying every route possible for a signing and there’s still two or three weeks left to work on it.”
