Livingston 1-0 Clyde (AET)

Jordan White’s extra-time goal sent Clyde out of the League Cup at Almondvale this afternoon, following a battling display by The Bully Wee that perhaps deserved better.

Barry Ferguson named the same starting line-up as last week’s Petrofac Cup encounter, although deployed with a different system from the outset.

For the second week in a row, the home side started the match well and John Gibson was forced into three good stops from close range to keep the scoreline blank.

Clyde’s best chance of the first half came when David Gormley found some space in the box, but Craig Sives just got back in time to tackle the forward.

The Bully Wee grew more confident in the second half and Sean Higgins (pictured) forced Darren Jamieson into a superb save, after he met Scott Linton’s deep cross.

With time running out, substitute Scott Ferguson had a penalty claim waved away by the referee and, at the other end, Jordan White flashed a shot just passed the post from 20 yards.

With the scores level at full-time, the tie moved into extra-time but Clyde continued to compete well with their Championship opponents.

However, in the second period of the additional time, a loose ball fell nicely for White at the edge of the box and he gave Gibson no chance with a powerful low shot to send The Lions into the next round.
