Clyde 0-2 Queen’s Park

The Bully Wee suffered a disappointing Ladbrokes League 2 defeat at Broadwood today, despite a bright start to the match, as The Spiders earned a derby victory.

Barry Ferguson made one change to the team following last week’s win at Stirling, with David Marsh (pictured) replacing Hugh Murray in midfield.

Clyde started the match strongly, but unfortunately couldn’t find the net. Chris Smith’s header was cleared off the line and Archie Campbell couldn’t find the target from inside the box. Campbell also seemed to be brought down when on route to goal, but the referee disagreed.

After weathering the early pressure, Queen’s Park gained some confidence and Willie Mortimer forced John Gibson into a good save. However, Clyde almost took the lead just before half-time, when Marsh’s header drifted just past the post.

The second half saw a change in the flow of the match and it was the visitors turn to look the stronger team, with the opening goal coming after 53 minutes. Chris Mitchell’s headed clearance fell to Jamie McKernon and his volley beat Gibson and found the bottom corner of the net.

Soon after that, the visitors doubled the lead through Paul Woods’ low shot and that left The Bully Wee with a difficult task.

The remainder of the match featured few chances at either end, with substitute Brian McQueen’s knock-down frustratingly missing everyone in front of goal.
