Livingston 2-1 Clyde
Petrofac Training Cup holders Livingston successfully started their defence of the trophy with a 2-1 victory over Clyde at the Energy Assets Arena this afternoon.
Livi made a bright start and deservedly took the lead in the fourth minute when Danny Mullen fired home a thunderbolt from 25 yards.
Thirteen minutes later, the West Lothian side doubled their lead when Miles Hippolyte netted a low drive from 20 yards.
However, The Bully Wee fought back and had strong claims for a penalty and a Livingston sending off when last man Craig Sives hauled down David Gormley (pictured) as the striker burst through on goal, but the referee only awarded a free-kick and yellow card.
Clyde continued to push for a goal to bring them back into the game and that arrived in the 35th minute when Michael Bolochoweckyj powerfully headed home a Chris Mitchell corner.
The second half was an evenly contested affair with both teams creating chances as Gormley continued to threaten for The Bully Wee, but neither side could find another goal and the home side progressed into the second round with a 2-1 win.
