Clyde 2-0 Queen’s Park

Clyde ended the 2014-15 season on a high note at Broadwood this afternoon, with a two-goal victory over local rivals Queen’s Park.

Barry Ferguson made two changes to the starting line-up, with Scott Ferguson (pictured) returning to the team and Under-20 squad member Conor Lynass awarded his first start for the club in midfield.

Scott Durie was the first player to come close to scoring for Clyde, but an opening goal arrived after 34 minutes. Scott Ferguson’s cross from the left was only partially cleared and Steven McDougall was on hand to blast the ball into the net.

The visitors rarely threatened the Clyde goal during the first half, but at the other end Ferguson’s effort missed the target just before half-time.

Chances continued to be rare in the second period but, with 70 minutes on the clock, a fine second goal put the Bully Wee in a comfortable position. Ferguson and McDougall were involved again and after the latter put a great cross into the box, Brian McQueen did well to beat Willie Muir with a header.

The Spiders best chance to get back into the match came when Alan Martin spilled a cross into the path of Ciaran McElroy, but the winger passed up on the easy chance to score and hit the bar.

The final whistle confirmed that Clyde’s League Two season would end with a sixth place finish.
