Think Pink on Saturday

Saturday sees The Bully Wee extend their support of Think Pink by staging a fundraising day for the charity.

A collection will be made by the Think Pink fundraising team before Saturday’s home game against Albion Rovers at the turnstiles, the executive lounge and the Boardroom.

We would ask fans of both clubs to do all they can to support this initiative in aid of breast cancer research.

Clyde FC launched the partnership last June and will continue to support the charity again next season.

Think Pink Scotland was established in 2006 when two friends, Lynn Murray and Ann Graham, were diagnosed with breast cancer in the same week. Along with a group of friends and neighbours they decided to establish Think Pink Scotland and to date they have generated more than £400,000 for breast cancer research in Glasgow and the West of Scotland, surpassing their original aim of raising £10,000.

As a result of Think Pink Scotland’s remarkable fundraising so far, a new laboratory has been built in the Wolfson Wohl Cancer Research Centre, located in the University of Glasgow’s Garscube Estate campus. This Centre – which was officially opened in May 2014 – is a much needed catalyst for accelerating the process of understanding Cancer, improving existing therapies and identifying new ones and bringing them to patients.

The group have also successfully fundraised for two vital pieces of research equipment.

Clyde Director Bobby Gracey said, “We are delighted to be able to assist in raising awareness of breast cancer, which affects both men and women, whilst doing everything we can to financially contribute to the excellent research work being undertaken every day at Glasgow University.”

Catherine McGrory, Development Officer at the University of Glasgow said: “I have been delighted with Clyde FC’s support for Think Pink Scotland. The sale of each new Pink strip this season has helped to raise vital funds for cancer research in Glasgow. It has also helped us to raise awareness of the ground-breaking cancer research taking place at the University of Glasgow.”

Lynn Murray, Think Pink Scotland Founder said, “As a result of support from the public over the past few years, Think Pink Scotland has already funded two vital pieces of research equipment and a new cancer research lab in Glasgow. We want to continue to raise funds to help scientists translate their research into new and more effective treatments for patients. The support from Clyde FC has helped us to do this.”
