Barry Delighted With Double Deal

Clyde manager Barry Ferguson spoke to this official website this evening, following the transfer deadline day news that Scott McLaughlin and Keigan Parker have signed for the club.

Former Ayr United captain McLaughlin has penned an 18-month contract and the Clyde boss was delighted to have finalised the move:-

“I’ve been tracking Scott for a while and he’s a player I know well; he’s been at a number of good clubs. When the opportunity to sign him came up I grabbed it and we managed to beat a few other clubs to his signature, so I’m delighted with the deal.

“When I spoke to him initially, I could hear in his voice that he really wanted to join Clyde and he was hungry to buy into what we’re trying to do over the next couple of years. He’s a goalscoring midfielder which is something we really need.

“It’s a great capture for the club and I’m excited to have him on board.”

Ferguson was similarly pleased by Parker’s desire to join The Bully Wee and praised the forward’s footballing ability:-

“There is no doubting Keigan’s ability, it’s just about how much he wants it and he knows that himself. He knows that he’ll need to roll his sleeves up with us but, like Scott, he made it clear how much he wanted to be part of it.

“At 32, he’s got time left in his career and he sees this as an opportunity to show what he can do, having played at a higher level previously. I believe he’ll do that and it’s now up to him to prove it in training and on a Saturday.

“He’s signed a deal until the end of the season initially, which we can look to extend if it goes well.”

Barry had little time to celebrate his birthday during a hectic day and he revealed that he was still looking to enhance the squad further:-

“I’m still hopeful of signing another two players and I’m working on the deals at the moment. It may not happen tonight, but there is still a chance we can conclude them later in the week if the players we want are released by their current clubs.”
