Albion Rovers 0-2 Clyde

The Bully Wee earned an important three points in League Two this afternoon, as goals by Steven McDougall and Scott Ferguson capped an excellent team performance at Cliftonhill.

Barry Ferguson handed debuts to Scott McLaughlin and Keigan Parker, with David Marsh also replacing Ross Fisher in defence as Clyde took to the field for the first time in a fortnight.

There was an early blow for The Bully Wee as Scott McManus collided with Albion ‘keeper Neil Parry and was taken off the field in some discomfort.

McManus was replaced by McDougall and the winger made an instant impact on the match by giving Clyde the lead, when his header beat Parry following Stephen O’Donnell’s clever cross.

McDougall came close to scoring again but his low shot was cleared off the line, while at the other end The Wee Rovers twice had the ball in the net but both efforts were correctly ruled out for offside.

Alan Martin also had to react quickly to rush from his line and prevent a goalscoring opportunity for the home side.

As the match entered the second half, Albion tried to put pressure on but it was Clyde that had the clear-cut chances on goal; both via O’Donnell. The Clyde captain was unlucky to see a shot flash past the post and then should have done better from inside the box after being set up by Parker.

With ten minutes left on the clock, Parker rounded off a fine individual performance by creating space on the wing and delivering a cross into the box which gave Ferguson a great chance to double the lead and he duly obliged with a cool finish.
