PREVIEW: Annan Athletic v Clyde

Clyde will travel to Dumfries and Galloway tomorrow to take on Annan Athletic in the last Scottish League Two fixture of 2014.

The Galabankies currently occupy fourth place in the table, with The Bully Wee only three points behind and in a congested chasing pack. In preparation for the match, the squad took part in a re-arranged training session today after enjoying Christmas Day.

Barry Ferguson was hoping to build on last week’s 3-1 in over East Fife when he spoke to www.clydefc.co.uk:-

“I thought we played well last week. Even in the first half we had lots of possession and then in the second half there was only one team who was going to win it.”

The Clyde starting line-up included two surprises, with youngster Ged Traynor playing at left back and Brian McQueen starting as a centre forward rather than his more accustomed position of central defence.

Both players went on to score and Ferguson continued: “I thought McQueen and Scotty McManus were excellent together.

“I thought we were lacking a cutting edge up front and I knew McQueen had played there a few years back, so we tried it in training and it went well. In the game I thought he settled in straight away.

“Ged still has a lot of learning to do, but he did well. I am not scared to bring in youngsters and work with them to try to improve their game.”
