PREVIEW: East Fife v Clyde

Clyde return to the scene of last season’s play-off semi-final disappointment tomorrow for a League Two match with Gary Naysmith’s East Fife.

Last week, Barry Ferguson’s side produced an impressive performance to see off Turriff United 3-0 in the Scottish Cup and the Clyde boss will be looking for a similar performance tomorrow in Methill.

Speaking to the official Clyde website Ferguson said: “The lads did really well last week – the Highland League is getting stronger all the time so it is difficult to travel up there but the lads did well.

“If we went into last week’s game with the wrong attitude there was only going to be one outcome and that was Turriff winning the game, so I stressed that to the players before the game and to be fair to them they did a professional job.”

While Ferguson was pleased with last week’s performance he knows his team face a tougher test again tomorrow. He continued: “Last week was a nice distraction but now it is back to business. We have got the monkey off our back with the win last week so hopefully we can do the same tomorrow.

“East Fife are a strong team and one of the favourites to go up but it is a game we should be looking forward to and the boys are fired up and ready for the game.

“We have respect for East Fife, they are a really good team. They were in the league above last season and they will be looking to bounce straight back so we know it is going to be difficult, but it is a game that the guys have got to look forward to and, as always, we will be going out to win the game. There is no point in settling for snatching a point.”

Ferguson himself is still struggling with an injury, while Craig Halkett, who was forced to leave the field last week, did some light training with his parent club Rangers during the week and will face a fitness test tomorrow morning.

The match will kick-off at the earlier time of 1pm at New Bayview, due to the Scotland v Georgia fixture taking place at Ibrox Stadium later in the day.
