Preparations Continue

Barry Ferguson spoke to the official website this evening, for a further update on the club’s pre-season preparations with the first match of the 2014-15 campaign only ten days away.

He started by commenting on Saturday’s friendly victory over East Kilbride at the K Park:-

“I was happy with the way we played. We’re getting closer to the first competitive match and things are going well. I know the boys’ attitude is always first class but what’s making me more happy is that they are trying to play to a system that I’m putting to them.

“There was a very good turnout of supporters and I hope they can see what I’m trying to do, although it will take a bit of time.”

Barry continued by outlining his plans for the coming week:-

“We’ve got two more closed door matches this week – we’ve tried to fit in as many as we can. It’s going the way I want it overall.

“From next week we will start getting into more detail about what I want to happen in matches. As I said, we’ve introduced a bit of it so far and it hasn’t taken them long to grasp it. That’s really pleased me.

“We’re also hoping to sign another player this week. He’s someone I’ve chased since I got the job so I’ll be delighted to get him on board.”

The Clyde player-boss concluded by confirming that John Sweeney will continue as club captain:-

“John’s going to be my captain. He’s our longest serving player alongside Iain Gray and he knows what the club is about. I don’t see any reason to change it. He’s an important member of my squad, but that goes for everyone else and everyone gets treated the same.

“It’s a great bunch of boys and I can’t complain one bit about what they have done so far. The atmosphere is great.”
