PREVIEW: Stirling Albion v Clyde

Clyde will make the short journey to Stirling today, for the final match of the regular League Two season.

The Bully Wee have, of course, already secured a slot in the promotion play-offs with results in League Two and League One today determining who the club’s semi-final opponents will be.

The Binos could also be involved, but require a point from the match today to guarantee their participation.

Jim Duffy reported to the official website that several players will miss the short trip. Iain Gray suffered a fractured metatarsal in training this week after turning awkwardly and has already been ruled out of all remaining matches. Neil Janczyk (knee), Stefan McCluskey (head) and Stuart McColm (honeymoon) are all also sidelined, with David Marsh doubtful.

However, Kieran MacDonald returns after missing the previous two matches.

“Our small squad will be stretched to the limit,” Jim said. “Disappointingly injuries have affected our preparations which is far from ideal, especially as the games are now coming thick and fast.

“I am delighted to welcome back Kieran though and it was pleasing to see Kevin (Watt) back last week. We need competition up front so it was great to see him score on his return and hopefully he will continue that form at Forthbank.

“Another positive has been the introduction of Fraser McGhee, who has continually improved, and we have benefited from Ross McKinnon who has given added strength to the side defensively, as well as being an asset on set pieces.

“We are determined to maintain the momentum of the past fortnight and will go into the game with the sole focus of securing third place. We also want to reach 60 points by getting 18 wins; that would be a tremendous achievement and evidence of the progress we’ve made this season. 

“Stirling will be up for it so it will be real challenge, but it is one the team is looking forward to.”
