Golf Day Raises Nearly £8k

On Friday, the club held its annual Golf Day at Westerwood Hotel & Country Club, Cumbernauld.

Clyde fans and local businesses enjoyed a fantastic day, with club legends such as Craig Brown, Neil Hood, Robert Reilly and Jack Ross taking part. Members of the current Clyde squad also attended, with other celebrities including the BBC’s John Morrison and Dundee United legend Hamish McAlpine helping to create a great atmosphere.

Jim Duffy also supported the event by turning up to wish everyone well ahead of the tee-off time.

The Celeb-Am competition, which was played as a fourball Texas Scramble, was eventually won by team Jack Ross (pictured) which included Jamie Barclay, Bobby Gracey and Gordon McIntryre.

Closest to the pin prizes were claimed by ex-player Brian Carrigan and former manager Craig Brown.

Following the golf, superb food and hospitality was provided by Westerwood Hotel and former player Neil Hood expertly managed the after dinner auction and recounted numerous funny stories from his time at The Bully Wee.

Club director and event organiser, Bobby Gracey said:

“I’m delighted to confirm that, after all costs, over £7,500 has been raised for the club’s development fund, which is a fantastic achievement. I would like to thank everyone that participated and made this event such a success in every respect.

“I would also like to personally thank Gary Ballantyne and David MacPherson for their tremendous support before, during and after the event.

“The Celeb-Am was a fitting end to an outstanding football season and I would like to thank all of our fans for their support, as there is no doubt in my mind that that their financial contribution has partly ensured we are in a position to retain our best talent for next season.

“Our golf events are becoming so popular that we are now planning another one in September, with further details to follow once a venue and date has been confirmed.”
