Albion Rovers 1-0 Clyde

Clyde’s disappointing form continued this evening, as Albion Rovers edged to a victory in an uninspired League Two contest at Cliftonhill.

Jim Duffy made one change to the team that faced Montrose on Saturday; Giuseppe Capuano replaced Stuart McColm, with the winger unavailable due to work commitments.

As the match started on a heavy and unpredictable pitch, it soon became clear that chances would be hard to come by throughout the evening. John Sweeney was given an early opening but he couldn’t get his shot on target from a difficult angle.

Ryan Donnelly came close for The Wee Rovers with a low shot that just missed the post, before Scott Ferguson’s deflected effort from inside the box narrowly missed the opposite goal as half-time approached.

The second half continued to be tight until a vital couple of minutes gave the home side the initiative. Following a Clyde corner, David Marsh came close to scrambling the ball in at the back post after Brian McQueen knocked the ball down.

However, the chance was missed and Albion soon scored. Kieran MacDonald needlessly conceded a penalty after losing possession in the box and Scott Chaplain expertly converted from the spot.

The remainder of the match saw The Bully Wee struggle to create enough to get back into the match, with a Ferguson run and subsequent penalty appeal the closest moment to an equalising goal.
