No Complaints from Jim
Clyde manager Jim Duffy spoke to the press after tonight’s Scottish Cup defeat at Stranraer, revealing that he felt the best side won despite a spirited effort by his Clyde team.
He started by discussing a disappointing period of play that completely changed the match, soon after Kevin Watt had given The Bully Wee a surprise lead:-
“I think Stranraer caused us problems after we scored but we made one or two issues for ourselves as well. We didn’t give ourselves a platform to settle into the lead; maybe we got a bit over-excited. We certainly lost our concentration after the goal and when it went to 2-1, Stranraer used the advantage to show what a good side they are.
“We had to take a bit of a risk towards the end as we were out of the cup and you can either lose 2-1 or take a risk and go man for man at the back. I felt that we had to try it but it didn’t work and players like Grehan and Longworth exposed that.
“The players put in a tremendous amount of work and we scored a very good goal. Over the two games, we have competed well with a very good side that score a lot of goals.
“I’ve got no complaints about the outcome though, Stranraer were deserved winners and we wish them well in the next round.”
