Clyde 2-1 Annan Athletic
Clyde returned to the top of League Two this evening, thanks to a fine 2-1 win over Annan Athletic at Broadwood.
Jim Duffy made one change to the team that faced Stranraer on Saturday, with Kevin Watt replacing Scott Ferguson in the starting line-up.
The Bully Wee were on top for most of the first half, but couldn’t find a breakthrough. Pat Scullion came close from inside the box, Watt just missed the target with a volley from a Stuart McColm cross and McColm put his own shot just over the bar.
However, just before the half-time break, the visitors took the lead. Kenny MacKay managed to get away from David Marsh in the Clyde box and his shot was only partially blocked by Nik Rajovic, before squirming just over the line.
The Bully Wee responded early in the second half with an equalising goal. A tenacious run and low cross by Stefan McCluskey was met at the back post by McColm and he made no mistake with a first time shot.
As the match progressed it looked like it could go either way, with Rajovic doing well to gather an Annan free-kick and Scott Ferguson forcing Kenny Arthur into action at the other end.
With five minutes left to play, McColm scored a wonderful second goal to clinch a Clyde victory. The winger picked up a low pass at the edge of the box and unleashed an unstoppable shot into the far corner of the net, leaving Arthur with no chance.
