Annan Athletic 1-2 Clyde

The Bully Wee recorded a fine away victory this afternoon, leaving Annan’s Galabank with full points from the League Two match.

Jim Duffy handed a debut to recent signing Giuseppe Capuano in midfield, with Stef McCluskey also added to the team following last week’s defeat to East Stirling.

Clyde registered the opening goal after 26 minutes. Scott Ferguson was fouled and Kieran MacDonald’s subsequent free-kick was bundled into the net by Ryan Frances; his first goal for the club.

However, Annan equalised before the half-time break. Peter Weatherson was given too much space in the box and he diverted a header past Jamie Barclay to make it 1-1.

Shortly after the start of the second half, The Bully Wee regained the lead. Michael Daly was brought down by Weatherson inside the box and John Sweeney stepped up to convert from the penalty spot.

Following that, the end of the match should have been made more comfortable, with Stuart McColm missing two chances to extend the lead and Pat Scullion also hitting the bar with a volley from close range.

The home side tried to make Clyde pay for those misses with some late pressure and a shot went narrowly wide after deflecting off Iain Gray, but the full-time result moved The Bully Wee into fifth place in League Two.
