Ten-Goal Thriller in Fans Match

The Fans v Fans match returned to Broadwood on Sunday and a great night was had by players and spectators alike. The Bully Wee side, coached by John Sweeney, took on David Marsh’s Gypsy Army team in a well contested match with some good football on show.

Andy Murray put the Bully Wee into an early lead with a fine strike after just 4 minutes but the Gypsy Army hit back to take a 3-1 lead, with goals from Dean McKirdy, Craig McNulty and Richard Scobie. The Bully Wee refused to lie down and another two goals from Andy Murray meant the sides went in level at half-time.

More goals were to follow in the second half as the Gypsy Army went 5-3 up, with Dean McKirdy bagging another two goals to collect his hat-trick. The Bully Wee were not finished though and again managed to come back from two goals down to equalise. Two goals in the last ten minutes from defender turned striker Stuart McNulty made the final score 5-5.

An impromptu penalty shoot out was arranged at full-time in order to secure bragging rights and The Bully Wee ran out eventual winners 6-5.

Hat-trick heroes Murray and McKirdy were named as Man of the Match for their respective teams.

The club would like to thank event organiser, David Alexander and everyone else that took part in a very successful fundraising evening.
