Jim Frustrated by Errors
Following today’s defeat to Queen’s Park, a disappointed Jim Duffy spoke to the media to give his thoughts on an eventful match. Here are his comments in full:-
“We lost terrible goals – individual errors cost us the game. As much as I am a fan of Gardner and how his team play, I didn’t think they were the better team today. I thought we played really well, but we had a ten minute spell when we made so many basic errors and allowed them to get in front.
“We played really well going forward, we scored two goals and Pat (Scullion) has had two goals ruled out that I didn’t think were offside – the second one didn’t look anywhere near offside. We also hit the woodwork, but basic errors cost us. The first one is a break and the second one Jamie (Barclay) should save, there’s no question about that. For the third, I know which player dropped their runner. From that perspective, the way we gifted them the goals was bitterly disappointing.
“After going 2-0 up we lost a goal within a minute and it is criminal to do that. We told the players at half-time that they had to concentrate – and they lost concentration. In the past Queen’s Park have outplayed us but that didn’t happen today and it’s really frustrating.
“Our supporters will obviously be disappointed but there was criticism for myself and also when John Kane came on. Kieran Macdonald was injured. That’s the bottom line. I don’t think we should have to announce it over the tannoy when a player is injured. Kieran was struggling at half-time and we left him on as long as we possibly could. I really don’t think I should have to explain that but I will out of courtesy.”
