PREVIEW: Clyde v Annan

Clyde face Annan Athletic this afternoon and boss Jim Duffy views it as an ideal opportunity to bounce back after Wednesday’s poor display against Queen’s Park:-

“Hopefully the players will respond in the right manner as they have been told that it was nowhere near good enough.

“I have watched Annan’s performance against Rangers on Wednesday and they did very well. Whilst we have beaten them twice this season, we know that we will have to up our game to do so again.”

The squad for the match is likely to be along similar lines with Paul Hay returning for selection. Gavin Brown (hamstring) is out and it remains to be seen if today is too soon for Iain Gray, however it was encouraging to see the popular player feature in part of Thursday’s training session.

After that light session, the players on the fringe of the first team squad also participated in a bounce game at Broadwood. The absence of a reserve team this year makes games like this important to give the players an opportunity to maintain match fitness, with striker Stefan McCluskey featuring for an hour.

The evening also gave an opportunity for  a number of the under-19 squad and players such as Nik Rajovic, Daniel Fitzpatrick, Ross Lindsay, Ryan MacBeth, Kieran Macdonald and Gary Graham to get an extended run out against an amateur side. The Bully Wee ran out 6-1 winners.
