Montrose 1-1 Clyde

The points were shared at Links Park this afternoon, as Montrose battled back to earn a draw depsite being down to ten men for most of the match.

With Kevin Nicoll unavilable due to injury, Jim Duffy returned Paul Hay to the team in an otherwise unchanged starting line-up.

The Bully Wee started well and took an early lead, with the Gable Endies alse being reduced to ten men in the process. Stuart McColm’s (pictured) goalbound shot was tipped over the bar by defender Stuart McNally, who was shown a red card. John Sweeney continued his recent goalscoring form by converting the penalty.

The rest of the first half was a fairly even encounter, with Jamie Barclay pulling off a good save from Terry Masson and Michael Oliver just missing the target at the other end.

Montrose came out strongly in the second half and equalised just before the hour mark. Scott Johnston finished off a good move by thumping the ball past Barclay and into the net.

The home side continued to defy the numerical disadvantage and pressed for a winner, with Leighton McIntosh notably forcing Barclay into a sharp stop.

Clyde’s best chance of a disappointing second half came through a Sweeney free-kick.
