Young Player Investment Initiative

The club is delighted to announce a new scheme aimed at helping the development of both Clyde FC and its players.

The Young Player Investment Initiative offers a unique opportunity for sponsors to assist in the training and development of players under the age of 23. The concept of the programme is to nurture the potential of a player during his time at Clyde, with a commitment of a two-year deal given with the help of sponsor funds.

As the player develops, Clyde FC and the sponsor will be entitled to a 50% share of any initial transfer fee received for him.

Clyde has a proud and longstanding tradition in developing young talent within Scottish Football. Names such as Steve Archibald, Pat Nevin, Dom Sullivan, Iain Ferguson, Craig Bryson and Gordon Greer all began their accomplished footballing careers at The Bully Wee.

Club director, Bobby Gracey said:-

“This is such an exciting project. It is important that we continue to test the boundaries of innovation at the club to assist in our vision of attracting the best young players to Clyde, within a sustainable financial framework. It will also be a very exciting and personal journey for any investor as they will feel part of the player’s future development and will have close dialogue with the player and the club alike.

“The initiative similarly supports Jim Duffy’s requirement to introduce continuity to our first team squad by offering two-year contracts to our most talented under 23 players, which, due to financial pressures, has not previously been possible.

“As we announce the launch of the player investment opportunity, I am delighted to report that Stefan McCluskey is the first player at Clyde FC to be selected. Wider interest also already exists from several other individuals in the business community.

“I would urge all Clyde fans to support this effort by the club to attract external commercial and financial support, as we work to add further foundation blocks that will assist our financial recovery and a return to a higher level of Scottish football.”
