Preparations Continue

Jim Duffy spoke to the official website this evening, for a short update on the pre-season progress being made ahead of the new campaign starting on July 28th.

The Bully Wee took on Queen of the South in a bounce match on Saturday, with the Dumfries men recording a 3-1 win. Pat Scullion scored Clyde’s goal and there were also appearances by Jamie Barclay, Gavin Brown, Paul Hay, John Neill, John Sweeney and Ryan MacBeth.

“Training continues to go well,” Jim said. “We have had three matches to date and this has given me an opportunity to view the players in action. It’s also helped me make decisions on what trialists we want to continue working with and those who are not what we are looking for at this time.

“Ideally, pre-season is a time when you add a few players but work with the bulk of the squad from the previous year and use games to work on specific aspects to progress the team. As a club, however, we are not at that stage yet and training consists of bringing in a number of trialists each week to assess and build the squad. Of course, we have to do that with the resources we have available to us at this time.

“After Saturday, I let a number go while inviting a few back and that process will go on until I’m happy with the squad. Alongside training this week, we will have two more bounce matches on Thursday and Saturday.

“Throughout the week I will also be doing what I can to secure more players and when deals are confirmed I’ll notify the fans through the website.”
