East Stirlingshire 0-1 Clyde

The Bully Wee secured back-to-back victories for the first time in almost a year this afternoon, with a hard-fought win at bottom side East Stirling.

Jim Duffy made two changes to the team that defeated Stranraer last week; Jason Marr and Jamie Pollock replaced Gavin Brown and Michael Oliver.

The first chance of the match fell to Clyde in the second minute, when Declan Gallagher hit the crossbar from close range and couldn’t get enough on the rebound to beat home ‘keeper Callum Antell.

The Shire enjoyed at least a fair share of possession and territory throughout the first half but failed to test Nick Feely with anything other than long range efforts, with the best chances continuing to fall to The Bully Wee. Pat Scullion (right) saw his header saved and John Neill just failed to reach a low cross into the box.

The second half was even tighter in terms of chances created, although Clyde did have a strong penalty claim waved away when Neill appeared to be pushed in the box as a corner was flighted towards him.

However, Neill was to be rewarded soon afterwards as he scored the winning goal in style. The club’s top scorer reacted to a bouncing ball in the box, rounded Antell and coolly slid the ball past the last defender and into the net.

The home side pushed for an equaliser in the last ten minutes but couldn’t make any impact in the final third and the three points were secured for Clyde.
