PREVIEW: New Year Derby

Queen’s Park will be the first side to visit Broadwood in 2012, with a Glasgow derby in the IRN-BRU Third Division on Monday (3pm kick-off).

Jim Duffy spoke to www.clydefc.co.uk ahead of the match, starting with news on the squad:-

“Both Declan Gallagher and Gavin Brown are edging back to full fitness but they are still a couple of weeks away from being ready for a place in the match day squad. It will be a real boost to have them back to give us further options. I think the Annan game will again be too soon, but they are getting close.

“Paul Hay is suspended for one game and will miss out, but he will be back in contention for Saturday.”

Jim was well aware of how poor The Bully Wee’s recent record is against The Spiders:-

“I cannot deny that Queen’s Park are our bogey side. Sometimes in football you get situations where, for whatever reason, results don’t go your way against a certain team for a while. However, as a team we have to remember that at Hampden recently we created a number of chances and played decently for long periods of the game.

“On Monday we need to look forward to the challenge, defend well and take our chances. The lads’ attitude is spot on and we are looking forward to this game. I hope people will turn up in good numbers for what promises to be a great game to start the New Year.

“Finally, I’d like to wish all Clyde supporters a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. I hope you all continue to stick with us as we try to improve the club. We may have only made a small improvement to date but I do believe we are moving in the right direction and we are all working to continue that progress in 2012.”
